What is tadalafil?

Tadalafil, also known by the brand name Cialis, is a medicine scientifically formulated to treat erectile dysfunction, improving your ability to get and maintain an erection. Tadalafil uses the same active ingredient as Cialis, so it is just as effective and it is MHRA approved to treat ED.

It’s an effective solution for a very common problem in men from all ages. So don’t worry if ED happens to you in your twenties or your fifties. We got you covered.

How does tadalafil work?

Tadalafil widens the blood vessels that supply the penis, allowing more blood flow to the area to help you maintain a firmer erection during sexual intercourse. Tadalafil is there to help, but it will not increase your desire for sex.

Tadalafil should not be taken with a meal as this can delay absorption. Swallow the tablet whole with water and avoid taking it with alcohol or grapefruit juice as this may affect how the medicine works and increase the risk of adverse side effects.

Tadalafil may remain effective for up to 36 hours after taking it. But it only works if you are sexually aroused, so it will need your help. Some foreplay prior to sexual activity will do the trick. The erection will go away as normal after sex.

How safe is tadalafil?

Tadalafil is usually well tolerated. It can cause some side effects, although these tend to be mild. Common side effects include:

  • Headache
  • Facial flushing
  • Nasal congestion
  • Muscle aches
  • Arm or leg pain
  • Indigestion

If you experience loss of vision, chest pain, trouble breathing; swelling of the face or throat, or you still have an erection 4 hours after sex, seek medical advice by contacting us or your doctor.

How to take tadalafil

The tablet should be swallowed whole with some water. Tadalafil should not be taken with a meal as this can delay absorption. It is best to avoid taking the product with alcohol and grapefruit juice as this may affect how the medicine works and increase the risk of adverse side effects.

How much tadalafil should I take?

The usual starting dose for tadalafil is 10mg, however it comes in 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg or 20mg tablets. The lower dosages of 2.5mg and 10mg are prescribed to be taken daily.

Can I use tadalafil with alcohol?

You should avoid drinking alcohol whilst using tadalafil as this may make it more difficult for the drug to work. Alcohol, like tadalafil, decreases your blood pressure and when used together, it also increases your risk of getting dizzy when you stand up.

Can I take more than one tadalafil tablet in a day?

Do not take more than one tablet a day.

Is it ok to drive after taking tadalafil?

Some men have reported dizziness when taking tadalafil, so it is best to avoid driving until you have used the medicine a few times and know how you respond.

Tadalafil should always be stored out of reach of children and remain in the pouches or provided vial until you are taking your next dose. The tablets can be kept in a clean, dry place at room temperature. Never share your medicine with anyone else.

Does tadalafil have an expiry date?

Tadalafil tablets should never be used past the expiry date marked on the packaging as EXP. The expiry date is always the last day of the month, after this date it should be discarded.

How should I get rid of unused tadalafil tablets?

Never discard of tadalafil tablets by flushing them down the toilet or washing them down the drain as this will contaminate water and could harm the environment. We always recommend that medicines be returned to your local pharmacy for safe disposal.

What is the difference between tadalafil and Cialis?

Both medicines work in the same way and have the same active ingredient. The main difference between tadalafil and Cialis is the pricing. Cialis is the original branded product and tadalafil is the generic version which is made by different manufacturers at a cheaper price.
