WHAT IS LEVITRA?

Levitra is an effective treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED), which is when a man can’t get or maintain an erection that’s hard enough for sex. It works in a similar way to Viagra to help achieve a stronger erection. Levitra is also known by its generic name, vardenafil.

HOW DOES LEVITRA WORK?

Levitra is part of a group of medications called PDE5 inhibitors which work by relaxing and widening the blood vessels in the penis. This allows blood to flow into and fill the vessels more easily, helping the penis to get erect (erections are caused by the penis filling with blood). Levitra won’t give you an erection automatically though, you have to be sexually aroused, and then Levitra makes it more likely that your arousal results in a lasting erection.

HOW TO TAKE LEVITRA

Levitra is taken as a pill, which should be swallowed with water. It comes in three strengths, 5 mg, 10 mg, and 20 mg. If approved for Levitra, our doctors will tell you what dose to take. You should not take more than one Levitra tablet in 24 hours.

HOW LONG DOES LEVITRA LAST?

Levitra is usually taken around 30 to 60 minutes before sex, and then its effects last for around four to five hours. You may be able to get more than one erection in that time, but this varies from man to man. It depends on how you react to the drug and the dose you take.

How safe is Levitra?

Levitra has gone through rigorous clinical trials. It’s approved by the FDA and is safe for most men to take. Just like all medications, it can have side effects though. Whilst most of these side effects are relatively mild and short-lasting, like headaches, indigestion, and muscle pains, more severe side effects can happen. Because of the risk of side effects, Levitra should only be taken by adult men who have ED and not by women.

Other common questions

What is Levitra used for?

Levitra is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). It’s taken before sex, and it improves blood flow to the penis, making it more likely that you’ll get and maintain an erection. It won’t cause an erection on its own though. You have to want to have sex and you usually need sexual stimulation, such as foreplay. Levitra then helps with your erection.

When to take Levitra?

You should take Levitra between 25 and 60 minutes before you plan to have sex, although it can take up to four or five hours to work, so you may have to be patient. Remember you must be sexually aroused for Levitra to be effective.

How long does it take for Levitra to work?

Everyone responds to medication differently, so the time it takes Levitra to work will vary from man to man. Levitra can work as quickly as 25 minutes, although 60 minutes is the average, and it can take four to five hours.

How long does Levitra last?

The effects of Levitra typically last for about four to five hours, but this varies by person, it depends on how you react to the medication and what dose you take.

Does Levitra work every time?

Levitra is typically a very reliable medication so should work for you each time that you use it. If you find that Levitra is not working for you, it could be due to a number of reasons. Eating a heavy meal or drinking too much alcohol before taking Levitra can limit its effectiveness. Also remember that you must be sexually aroused for Levitra to work. We recommend trying Levitra a number of times before changing dose or trying a different ED medication. Please speak to our doctors if Levitra doesn’t work for you.

Which is better Viagra or Levitra?

Both Levitra and Viagra are effective treatments for ED. They contain similar ingredients, and they work in similar ways, by improving blood flow to the penis. Levitra may last a little longer than Viagra, by around an hour or so. Which treatment is better for you depends on how you react to the meds. You might find one is more effective, and/or you have fewer side effects with one of them.

How effective is Levitra?

Scientific studies have repeatedly shown that Levitra can help the majority of men with ED. Not all meds work for everyone though, and Levitra won’t necessarily work for every man. If Levitra doesn’t work for you, you can try other ED meds, like Viagra or Cialis.

Does Levitra have any side effects?

Levitra is usually well tolerated by most men, but like any medication, side effects are possible. Some of the more common side effects recorded include headaches, congestion, dizziness, facial flushing and nausea. More serious side effects can also be caused. If you think that you are experiencing a more serious medical reaction to Levitra, seek medical attention. For full information on Levitra side effects, please read the patient information leaflet.

Who shouldn't take Levitra?

Levitra shouldn’t be taken by men with heart or liver problems or if you have high or low blood pressure. Levitra is not suitable if you are taking medications that may interact with it, such as nitrate based medications.

Will Levitra give me an unwanted erection?

No, you must be sexually aroused for Levitra to work. The medication is there to help support natural erections, so it will only work when you want it to.

What should I do if Levitra doesn't work or stops working for me?

Levitra is usually a very reliable medication for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, however there are a number of factors that can impact the effectiveness of the medication. These include drinking a large amount of alcohol or eating a heavy meal before taking Levitra. You must also be relaxed and sexually aroused for the Levitra to work.
